Effective Date: July 15, 2025
This Cookie Policy (“Policy”) explains how Antuna & Associates, Attorneys (“Firm,” “we,” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on www.antunalaw.com (“Site”). It forms part of our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. By continuing to browse or use the Site, you agree that we can store and access cookies as described below, unless you adjust your browser or cookie-banner settings to refuse some or all non-essential cookies.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device that uniquely identify your browser or store information such as settings and preferences. Technologies with a similar purpose (e.g., local storage, pixels, scripts, and Software Development Kits) are treated as “cookies” for ease of reference. EU law requires user consent for all non-essential cookies, while U.S. laws such as the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) and California’s CCPA/CPRA give residents opt-out rights.
2. Why We Use Cookies
Category | Purpose | Legal Basis | Retention |
---|---|---|---|
Strictly Necessary | Operate core Site features (page navigation, security, load balancing) | Legitimate interest / performance of contract | Session – 24 hours |
Performance & Analytics | Measure traffic and diagnose errors (e.g., Google Analytics) | Consent (EU/UK), Legitimate interest (U.S.) | 1 day – 2 years |
Functional | Remember choices (e.g., language, cookie banner status) | Consent / legitimate interest | 30 days – 1 year |
Targeting/Advertising | Deliver or limit ads and track cross-site interests (e.g., LinkedIn Insight) | Explicit consent | 90 days – 1 year |
* Under GDPR/ePrivacy, we rely on Article 6(1)(a) consent for non-essential cookies; Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests for essential operations.
** Retention periods are typical; exact lifespans may vary by provider release cycles.

3. Managing Cookies
- Banner Controls: On your first visit—and at any time by clicking the floating “Cookie Settings” link—you may enable/disable non-essential categories.
- Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies via Settings › Privacy. Instructions are available from Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and others.
- Global Privacy Control / Opt-Out Signals: We honor GPC and similar universal opt-out mechanisms required under TDPSA (effective Jan 1, 2025) and CPRA. When detected, we will disable sale/sharing cookies automatically.
Rejecting or deleting cookies may impair some Site functionality.
4. Do Not Track (DNT)
Because no industry standard is finalized for DNT, we currently treat GPC as the authoritative browser opt-out signal and do not respond separately to legacy DNT headers.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Analytics and advertising partners set third-party cookies. These providers have their own privacy policies and may combine data from this Site with information gathered elsewhere. You can opt-out via our banner or through industry programs such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (youradchoices.com).
6. Data Sharing & Transfers
Cookie-derived personal data may be transferred to, and processed in, jurisdictions outside your own (e.g., U.S. data centers for Google). Where required by GDPR, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved safeguards.
7. Your Rights
Jurisdiction | Key Rights Related to Cookies |
---|---|
European Union / UK GDPR | Access, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, withdraw consent |
Texas (TDPSA) | Confirm processing, correct, delete, access portability, opt-out of sale or profiling |
California (CCPA/CPRA) | Know, delete, correct, opt-out of sale/share, limit sensitive data, no retaliation |
8. Policy Updates
We may revise this Policy to reflect legal changes or operational updates. Material changes will be announced via an on-site banner and are effective when posted (“Last Updated” date will change).
